Dude, I totally agree with you and No Mercy was the better game for it's graphics, and gameplay. I think your comments should count as a review or something, you really know what you're talking about here. Thanks for your comments and I hope THQ gets the message that we won't stand for this crap anymore.

WWE Wrestlemania X8: Nothin more than a showcase (Reply to this comment)
by acperfect24
This game when first was heard about was supposed to be a revolutionizing game in the wrestling area anyway and just looking at the previews and some of the newer features in the game before it came out seemed like a dream. Now I too am a wrestling fan and I just couldnt belive what they did to this game. I mean the titantrons are great and when you first turn on the game ur so intense and excited cause it looks great and it does have a new superstar lineup. However once you start playing the game thats when you begin to realize its nothing but a showcase. What I mean by that is they show you all the great titantrons and some nice photo's for the previews but once you play the game its so much more different.
The characters are filled to the max with plenty of people to choose from but however some of the great names who many people feel should have been in there arent. Such as Maven, Chuck, & Billy, Jazz who was the womens champ at one point, DDP, Brock Lesnar, Tommy Dreamer, X-Pac, Goldust, Chris Benoit, Spike Dudley, and theres more too!!
There are some wrestlers in here that are hidden and I'm not saying that they dont have some nice new great wrestlers added in here but still they should have added more into this one. I mean gamecube has all these added graphic abilities and more memory capacity and if they are going to make a game you'd better use all the new features and possiblities available to them. In my opinion No Mercy is still the top wrestling game i've ever seen with a create a character, storyline(awesome!!), a PPV create mode, and survival mode. Now Wrestlemania has came out with some nice new match types and possiblities and it does have some nice graphics but there are some major flaws.
The controls for No Mercy were the best controls i've ever seen for a wrestling game ever. Some of the greatest wrestling games ever were made by Nintendo 64 like No Mercy, Wrestlemania(64), and the legendary WCW vs NWO world tour game from way back when(I STILL PLAY TODAY!!). The controls for gamecubes wrestlemania is so poorly setup you can tell its all been rushed into getting it out into the market. First all taunts are done with the D-Pad and once you start taunting you cant even interrupt it. Now in No Mercy when I did a finishing move on someone whether it be through a table or whatever they did get up kinda fast but in this game Wrestlemania X8 I did a Pedigree through a table and the guy got right up like it was a poke in eye!! On top of that why is it they can never get injured in a match?? After each match they get up without a bruise and no trouble at all as if they just got into the ring for the first time! Now the next game I think they should add a storyline change the controls back to more like No Mercy add in more of the characters and even some of the older one's like HBK and Roadogg and Shamrock, then they need to make a chance for people to get injured so expand the 1 player storyline into all ONE game with different choices not goin for a certain belt but different paths that may lead you to a certain belt or opportunity. After the match there should be interupptions and maybe aftermatch attacks like more real life style. They had better be able to go into the back like hardcore style. I liked the titantrons but the music and the special effects like the explosion of Jerichos music in real life should be added in and no cheap Hardy's or nWo crap in there. It cant be some game where you play it for 2 hours straight and you've beaten the game and its over. MAKE IT LAST A LONG TIME SO PEOPLE KEEP COMING BACK AGAIN!! There should still be a create a character mode and PPV creation mode. All types of matches should be included in the game. Basically what you need to do is put the games together: No Mercy(controls,PPV mode,Storyline,Backstage), Wrestlemania X8(titantrons,weapons,matchtypes,some of the specail effects), Legends of Wrestling(older characters added in)
Basically the best features of each of the games turn it into one then update each feature with enhancements and make sure that with the characters everything is perfect about them and more of the music even if the characters arent there like DX(a must have), Roadogg, NAO, and i think they should be able to choose their music for each character like have versions of it for instance Stone Cold has been through many versions of his music people should be able to select a type of music for him and all the characters.
Thats just my opinion and overall I think Wrestlemania X8 is a giagantic failure in a big way and they really need to sit down take their times and figure out exactly how to make the greatest wrestling game the world has ever seen!! and if they really wanna know what should be in a great game they need to ask players opinions that ARENT on their staff or somewhere else they know just poll some people or whatever e-mail them IM them whatever they wanna do just to get some opinions :) thats my opinion and I think that the creators should really take a look at this comment because I know there are MANY people out there that agree with my opinions.

I was expecting a lot from this game, but it sounds a bit disappointing now. Great review!
