turabiangirl's Full Review: Waring JEX328 400 Watts Juicer
My mom has a Champion juicer, and since she swears by it, that was my first choice, but this one was at our local Sam's Club for only $50 so we thought we would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by it's performance. It wasn't even as loud as I expected, from reading other reviews. In size, it is only a little bigger than the average coffee maker. I will probably leave it out on the counter.
I have only used it once, so I am unable to evaluate its durability, but so far, it seems like a solid machine. My husband is impressed with the black plastic/stainless steel construction. I was pleased to see that it disassembled easily and could be washed in the dishwasher. As far as taste, the juice seemed much the same as what my mom makes with her Champion juicer.
The major disadvantage I see is that it is rather messy to use. Juice leaked out around the top of the lid, and if I didn't get the plunger back in the chute in perfect sync with putting the fruit in, little bits of fruit and pulp splattered everywhere. Somehow I ended up with my hands covered in fruit pieces and juice when I was done. My counter and clothes also had stuff on them. I am generally a neat person when it comes to food prep, so I don't think it was that I was doing anything wrong.
Scraping the pulp out of the main container was complicated by vertical protrusions of plastic on the inside of the container. It would be much simpler if it was smooth inside. It also took me several minutes of scrubbing with a little brush (included) to get the mesh screen piece clean. I think the directions said not to put that piece in the dishwasher. For the price, however, I believe the overall performance is excellent, and of course, fresh juice is always going to be inconvenient in some manner. This juicer is not bad, all things considered.
