Pros: Gets debris out from between the teeth, and leaves your mouth refreshed. While it works.
Cons: The quality of Teledyne/Waterpik products has deteriorated to junk status.
The Bottom Line: I would NOT recommend Waterpik. The company has cut just about every corner, leaving their consumers in the lurch

| Spiderider's Full Review: Water Pik Wp 72w Oral Irrigator Professional Denta... |
I bought this Waterpik because I was having some orthodontic work done, and getting food caught in between my teeth. The Waterpik I remembered from its early days (the 1960s) was great at reaching things a brush couldn't, and I found it easier and more refreshing than floss.
This model was a disappointment, although at first blush it seemed to be as refreshing and effective as their original old model.
But it is a lot more cheaply made.
Aside from the noise inherent in the machine, one of the problems I encountered right off was that the pressure adjustment had moved from the unit to the handle. This makes it easier to slip while handling it, and getting a hard force flow that can hurt the gums.
The major detriment, though, is the hose construction. The way the handle is attached to the hose, there is no way to fuctionally replace or repair it.
After a few months of regular, but certainly not heavy use, the hose sprung a small leak. I suddenly noticed that there was water spraying on the mirror, and found a tiny pin hole as the offending source.
It didn't take long (because you have to move the handle around in your mouth, thus manipulating the hose which is coiled) for the leak to become a larger crack, and then just break off.
Functionally, my Waterpik is dead.
I used to hold Waterpik appliances, and Teledyne, the manufacturer, in high esteem. But I don't any more. They have cut corners and designed/manufactured a first class piece of junk.
It's a shame, because this used to be a good, durable and reliable product.
Judging from this model, those days are passed.
