| cathyjones's Full Review: Waterpik Cascadia Futuristic Design Cf 201c |
My husband received this as an early Father's Day present. He has complained for over 4 years about the height of the shower head in our house. While shopping a couple months ago I purchased the Waterpik Cascadia for him for Father's Day. Lauren told him about it immediately so why wait.
What is the Waterpik Cascadia-Futuristic Design?
Well, it is a shower head that feels more like rain falling on you than the typical shower head that shoots out at you. This is an 8" shower head with over 100 openings for water to pour out. The arm is 8" long and flexible so you can adjust to many different positions. We have found that the arm is not as strong as we would like it to be, but does extend up enough to be tall enough for my husband without squatting to fit underneath the shower head. This shower head uses 2.5 gallons of water per minute (or 9.5 L/min) maximum.
One major difference with this than other shower heads is that you stand directly under the shower head. So it took a little getting used to positioning my body under and head out so I didn't get cold. Easy to wash shampoo out, but awkward in the beginning to position yourself correctly. It took less than a week to get used to it. I thought I would hate it and considered returning it, but now I love it.
Settings
There are two settings. One is very gentle and very relaxing. It feels like a gentle continuous rain fall. I think of a tropical experience. Warm and soft.
The second setting is the Concentrated Power Spray. This is much stronger and is only from the center openings. Basically feels more like full pressure narrowed into fewer openings. I don't usually use this. I find it to be similar to being sprayed with a water hose with that slightly stinging quality.
There is a cylindrical piece near the shower head that you push through the tube in different directions to change the settings. Very easy to do. I would love a third setting that would combine the two.
Looks
It looks huge. I am used to the small mounted on the wall and spray out versions, so an 8" disc that extends away from the wall and is directly overhead looked huge. This particular model is white with chrome. It looks very nice. The chrome is a ring around the actual shower head. The top of the shower head is white. The bottom part is gray with blue rubber nozzles. The arm is gray as well with a white piece connecting the arm and the shower head. Our model is the CF-201C. If you look at the chart below and different model numbers, I am not sure what the difference between some of the colors would be. It seems this one has gray accents, but it isn't listed that way on the website.
Installation
Easy. My husband installed in less than 10 minutes. He said that he just unscrewed the old shower head and screwed this one in. No tape or anything else was needed. The instructions state that this shower head will fit any 1/2" shower arm and they do not recommend plastic. All of the connections are screwed on and only tightened by hand.
There is a flow control to limit flow to 2.5 gallons per minute. It is recommended for those living in a low water pressure area to remove this flow regulator, we did not do this.
Cleaning
The nozzles are rubber and easy to clean around. There are a lot of them (over 100). Of course grime gets into the accordion type arm, but washes out fairly easily.
Shower cleaning products are recommended over harsh chemical products.
Warranty
This includes a 5 year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. That is according to the packaging.
From the website you can see that the model numbers just indicate different colorings.
MODEL CF-201C (White with Chrome Ring)
MODEL CF-200 (Satin Chrome with Chrome Ring)
MODEL CF-201 (White with Gray accent)
MODEL CF-203C (Bright Chrome Finish)
Purchasing
I have seen this particular model at many locations including K-Mart, Home Depot, etc. I found ours at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $39.99 which is much less than the suggested price and at the Waterpik web store.
