Pros:Thick rubber is soft and durable, inexpensive
Cons:Not enough color options
The Bottom Line: These gave new life to my chairs, and will prevent my floors from being scratched.
Many years ago we purchased a set of four folding chairs from Costco. Our dining room set only has six chairs, and when we had company over for Thanksgiving we always ran out of chairs.

The folding chairs worked well in a pinch, but each chair had at least one leg where the plastic chair caps had either come off or were cracked. My husband tried taping them onto the chairs with black electricians tape, but even that didn't help, it just made them look unsightly.
I didn't realize how badly these chair caps needed to be replaced until we used our folding chairs recently and they scratched up our hardwood floors.
Off I went to find some chair tips that would fit on my chairs. If you ever have to do this, I suggest that you remove one of the existing chair tips and take it with you, because these come in a variety of sizes. They range from 1/2" in diameter to over an inch. The first pair I bought at Lowe's were too small and had to be returned.
Before I found these Soft Touch Rubber Chair Tips (made by Waxman), I purchased the Waxman Soft Touch Chair Tips, and there is a big difference between the two. Both are made by the same company, and both say "Soft Touch", but the rubber version are a better product. The plastic are cheap and stiff, and are hard to get on the bottoms of our chairs.
Soft Touch Rubber Chair Tips are made of a thick, durable and pliable rubber, and are available in black and white. They were very easy to put on, the bottom of the tips are slightly flared out, and these slide right into place. There are ridges on the very bottom of the tips, which help to keep a chair from sliding. Unlike the plastic version, I didn't have to hammer these into place! The rubber looks very thick, and it seems like these would last a long time before the metal legs would cut through them.
They measure 1" in diameter, and are about 1 1/4" in height. The information on the package says they can be used for chairs, tables, foot stools or bar stools. I suppose they would work on any leg with a one inch diameter. I can see these being used on portable furniture such as a card table, but they are the perfect answer for our fold up chairs. I didn't even know these existed until a friend of mine told me about them, but they sure are worth the small investment (just over a buck) to keep my chairs usable and my floors protected.
