The Bottom Line: Weber is a name synonymous with quality. You can feel confident purchasing the Weber 18500 Traditional Tool Set. This one is a winner!

This is the time of year when our spirits are renewed with the changing climate and new opportunities on the horizon to sit outside and enjoy the company of family and friends around a barbeque. These are the times I long for during a long cold Northeast winter and when it comes around I like to maximize the experience by making it as perfect as possible and part of that means having the right tools to work with. One of the better I have come upon is the Weber Traditional Tool Set 18500

Details, Details

Weber offers a few barbeque tool choices which essentially are variations on the same theme consisting of fork, tong and tunere. I personally like the more traditional looking Weber 18500. The fact is there is more form and function in the Weber18500 than their other offerings. The hardwood handle is a poor conductor assuring your hands will never get burnt over. The hardwood is double brass riveted at both ends clad tightly with the heavy duty stainless steel construction of the tools assuring long service life. Stainless steel is the best for barbeque tools, in my opinion, as it is not prone to rust and it holds up well to heat. Weber did it right with the 18500. The stainless is thick enough o not yield under the heaviest sod meats yet subtle enough that you can easily manipulate the tunere handily with little effort, though users with smaller or weaker hands would serve themselves by trying them out before purchasing.

The Weber Traditional Tool Set 18500 is a long enough so that you don’t risk injury while working over a hot grille or risk splatter on your nice summer duds. The tunere (think small spatula) measures 21.5 inches long, tongs at 18.5 inches and fork in at a little over 20” in length. The tongs are vented which allow barbeque sauces and cooking juices access to your foods, which comes in handy when grilling veggies in a pan.

A fork is so essential to successful grilling and you will not be disappointed with the Stainless Steel fork in the Weber 18500 set. The tongs are sturdy and sharp providing all the essential elements for moving your heavy steaks around the grill. It has quickly become one of my favorite and most used tools of this set.

The tunere is wide enough at just under 4 inches to be especially useful for those summer burgers that are a favorite around my house. Again, the Stainless Steel construction is so essential as it assures your burgers aren’t mistreated by an otherwise flexing alternative. Using a nonstick spray is a useful tool to have in your barbeque arsenal as it makes moving burgers about your grill a simple exercise.

Weber provides steel hangers for all three utensils, though to make them work effectively with a Genesis grill you need to add rawhide strips to hang them on the grill hooks. Somebody goofed here but it is a small inconvenience that shouldn’t turn you away from an exceptional barbeque tool set.

Final Thoughts

Weber is an exceptional company with exceptional products. That attention to quality is not lost on the Weber 18500 Traditional Tool Set. While it looks like barbeque tools of old, it certainly raises the bar on quality and performance.

Cleaning is as simple as soaking the Stainless Steel in warm soapy water or hand washing. I wouldn’t hazard throwing these tools in the dishwasher on account of the hardwood. Stainless Steel construction and a little care can reasonably assure the user they have made a reasonable investment in the future.

Weber’s18500 10 year warranty which speaks to their confidence in the integrity of the Weber 18500 Traditional Tool Set. I like it when a company puts their money where their mouth is. Weber has long been known as a company that places a great deal of emphasis on quality; the Weber 18500 Traditional Tool Set is just another in a long list of examples why they lead the field in grills and accessories.
