It almost goes without saying this is an excellent performing grill - almost all Weber grills are. It builds high amounts of heat fairly quickly, distributes it evenly, and keeps flare ups to a minimum.
But it doesn't have the "flash" of other lesser made grills. For about half the price, a lot of other grills appear nicer - to the naked eye.
But quality construction and excellent customer service aren't cheap - and although almost every Weber has that, the Summit Platinum series goes even further than the Summit Gold series - it means heavy duty (solid) 3/8 inch stainless cooking grates and heavy duty stainless flavorizer bars (versus thinner non-stainless on the Gold series), as well as a stainless frame instead of regular steel. I'm not sure this makes the Summit Platinum cook better than the Summit Gold out of the box (although I think the much heavier grates on the Platinum retain heat better than the much lighter grates on lesser models), but you're almost certainly guaranteed to get longer life out of them.
And if you simply follow the recipe book that comes with each Weber, grilling is easy. Preheat accordingly, follow the cooking times, and with some minor adjustments, making great chicken, steaks, ribs, or anything is as simple as prepping the meat, putting on the grill for the indicated time and turning it once and then removing it. No need to constantly check it for fear of flare ups.
