| cntaur5's Full Review: Weider 140 Standard Weight Bench |
Once in a blue moon in every industry someone says, why not go back to basics; for example, the basic running shoe in athletics or the simple chin up bar for doing pull ups. When it comes to working the upper and lower body the 140 Standard Weight Bench by Weider does just that. The reason for this is simple: The 140 Standard Weight Bench trains the upper and lower body through a full range of motion. With the adjustable incline positions, barbell rack for bench presses, leg extensions and leg curl station you can safely, effectively work the whole body.
Instead of purchasing one of those big fancy expensive work out systems you can spend under $75.00 dollars and be able to exercise in the privacy of your own home. My client got a good deal purchasing his Weider Weight Bench from the Sports Authority for only $59.00. Not only is it affordable, but there is no commute involved, no one cares if you just got up and didn't fix your hair and you can do it when you want to. The Weider Standard Weight Bench allows you to perform upper body exercises like dumbbell presses and flyes, as well as ab work such as decline setups.
While there are numerous ways to train, the upper and lower body whether it be with some other system, certain facts are indisputable. The human body has functions that simply don’t change with time. Think about it. Most gyms basic weight benches, leg extension and leg curl stations. With the Weider Weight Bench you get it all. You get the flat decline or incline option, a butterfly station, plus a lat tower.
A plethora of exercises can be done with the Weider Weight Bench. My favorite exercise is the Incline Bench Press where you lie supine on the bench. Using dumbbells or barbell, simply pull your abs in tight and flatten your lower back to the bench. Start with weights directly over your chest, palms facing up and hands wider than shoulder width. The Weider Weight Bench did an excellent job of supporting and securing my weight allowing me to exercise comfortably.
Set up:
Even before becoming a Personal Trainer I’ve set up lots of exercise equipment. Set up was relatively easy since minimal assembly is required. It took less than 15 minutes, to assemble the bench, most of the time was spent explaining the do’s and don’t to my client. The only real challenging part to assembly is sliding on the 4 foam pieces.
If you are a novice it may take a little longer, this is not a toy, it’s made out of heavy duty steal weight 57 pounds. The bench length is 64 inches and the width is 24 inches so make sure you have adequate space. It's not a space hog, but some planning is needed. The well-built bench is constructed with heavy-duty steel, powder-coated finish, which makes it strong and scratch resistant.
Pros & Cons
After setting up my clients Weider Weight Bench I decided to put it through my own personal test. I completed 1 set, of close grip bench presses, 1 set of flat knee-ins, where I sat on the end of the flat bench so that only half of my buttocks was on the bench, laying back and holding my legs off the bench, while grasping the bench under my hips.
All bias aside the Weider Weight Bench is sturdy and comfortable. The foam padding is a lot softer and provides improved comfort and support compared to some of the rock hard bench’s at the gym.
Some of the features I really like about this bench is that everyone in the family can enjoy it. The best exercise for shaping and firming a woman’s bustline is the bench press. Plus, it sculpts your shoulders and tightens your triceps. The adjustable barbell height gives you the ability to adjust the bar height according to your arm length.
My only problem is the leg apparatus. The leg extension and leg curl apparatus is adequate, for my clients needs. The Weider Weight Bench is perfect for anyone starting to work out. It’s important to always start out light. Starting out with weights that are too heavy increases your risk of injury. Since, I’m no longer a novice I prefer the bigger weight training machines for my quads and lower body.
Weider warrants this bench to be free from defects in workmanship and material, under normal use and service conditions, for a period of 90 days from the date purchased. This bench carries the Weider name; Joe Weider has been a pioneer in the fitness industry since 1940’s.
Remember a good weight bench is the underpinning of any good strength-training program. Whether or not you want bragging rights with your friends, or need to get into tiptop shape, the Weider Weight Bench has a lot of options for building a better body.
With this bench you’ll need to consider purchasing dumbbells or weight sets where you can add weighted discs to a bar. You can purchase the 140 Weider Weight Bench and the weights at the Sports Authority. If you would like to order it online visit: http://www.powerbody.biz
