Pros: Wide variety of exercises with fine resistance control
Cons: Squat machine doesn't feel comfortable
The Bottom Line: If you can overcome the fear of reliability problems (real or otherwise) then buy it. It really is a good exercise machine in my opinion.

| mdenataleny's Full Review: Weider Crossbow Platinum Home Gym |
First off I have to say that Sears was awesome and has had a big impact in my overall satisfaction with this home gym. I bought the Crossbar Platinum XP800 from Sears. It was on closeout and they were selling the floor model. I had been looking at it for months. Finally one day I walked in and they had it marked all the way down to $220 from the original $899. Basically the unit is used since it has been on the floor for the better part of a year. The gym was missing most of the accessories and knobs. Anything that could easily be walked away with was gone. The only attachment left was the lat bar. Sears assured me that anything I identified as missing would be replaced. I got the gym home and went through the motions of putting it together per the instructions. This let me tighten everything up and identify all the missing pieces. I took the list of about 12 items that were missing and Sears had them drop shipped to me in just over a week. I was very happy.
I went over the gym with a fine tooth comb, calibrated it and hooked up the previously missing parts and I must say I really like the gym. The only exercise I'm not fond of is the squat machine. I always have to be careful with squats or my knees suffer, but I can't seem to find a comfortable position with this machine. The squat machine isn't a total loss for me though. It works well for adding resistance to calf raises. As an alternative to squats you can do leg presses and they feel much less stressful on my knees. The variety of exercises is fantastic and the method of achieving the resistance is quite interesting.
Overall the exercises feel mechanically correct and the resistance is smooth and consistent. The fine control of the resistance is great. Other than free weights I dont know where youll find 1lb incremental control. I'm a bit worried about reliability based on other's comments, but this one survived a year on the floor of Sears, so time will tell and there is always the ten year warranty to cover any problems.
