| patricknjacob's Full Review: Weight Watcher's Points Weight Loss Program with F... |
After eight years of being fat, I decided to do something about it. In April of this year, I began researching weight loss programs. I am a formerAtkins flop, so I quickly decided that low carb wasnt for me. After about a month of researching, I finally decided on Weight Watcher's Flex Points. I chose this program from the plethora available because it fit more into my life style than any of the other programs that I researched.
The Basics:
Weight Watcher's is not a diet. It is a life style. If you are not ready to adopt the life style changes that are a part of this program, then it isnt for you. Here are a few Weight Watcher's Flex Points basics:
-- You can eat whatever you want, but sometimes not how much you want.
--All foods have a point value based on dietary fiber grams, calories, and total fat grams of each food item. You can spend you daily points however you want on whatever foods you want. I like to, in general, spread all of mine out over the course of the day on a lot of lower point value foods.
--Each person is allowed a certain number of daily points based on their individual weight. For example, a 175-200 pound person is allowed 24 points. You cab eat your food in whatever form you want as long as you stay within your point range.
--You get 35 flex points per week to use however you want. You can blow them all at once or spread them out over the course of the week.
--Daily points start over each day and your flex points start over each week.
--There is a weekly weigh in and support group meeting.
--You journal everything you eat -- primarily to track point value.
What I like about Weight Watcher's Flex Points:
--It is a very flexible program. There is no food that I am completely restricted from. Since joining Weight Watchers, I have had steak (it was 16 points) and ice cream cone dipped in chocolate (8 points), among other things. I dont deprive myself of any food that I enjoy.
--It is extremely easy to figure out a foods point value.
--They offer a great support system.
--Reasonable cost.
What Weight Watcher's Flex Points has done for me:
I joined Weight Watcher's on May 24, 2004. Since that time, I have lost 15 pounds and 5 inches off my waist. Some days it is really easy. Some days it is extremely difficult for me. It had changed my eating style radically as well as that of my family. I eat a lot healthier. I feel better about myself. I plan on losing around 70 more pounds. It is a long journey that I have just begun.
What happens when your weight loss goal is achieved?
Once you achieve and maintain your weight goal for 6 weeks, you become a life time member and you dont have to pay the weekly fee any longer.
I exercise now. I eat better, and I am beginning to feel better. All of this for $12 a week or less. Weight Watcher's Flex Points routinely offers deals.
