| MIDIMonster323's Full Review: Weight Watcher's Points Weight Loss Program with F... |
UPDATE..as I've upgraded WW plans:
Full Review
I've tried SO many weight-loss plans-Somersizing, Atkins, Sugar Busters. I've lost about 600 pounds(up and down the scale, that is).
When I was doing low carb, my wife joined WW. She was eating those "illegal" foods that Atkins said I couldn't lose weight eating. So, I made the jump.
While my track record is spotty, I'll disclaim it and account for the time I've been faithful to WW.
This program does work-if you stick with it. You receive an allotment of POINTS based on your starting weight and as the weight comes off, the POINTS go down as well. It is a calorie restrictive diet, yet with all the food choices with assigned POINT values, it doesn't seem restrictive at all.
What I like is that I can eat ANYTHING I want-just not as much as I want. To me, that spells FREEDOM. Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice now provide POINT values on the boxes of their frozen meals, as do the WW frozen meals. The Lean Cuisine meals seem to have the best flavor and variety of meals in good portion sizes. The WW meals just don't give that fullness when I'm done eating. The WW frozen desserts-minus the ice cream desserts(yucky) are really good and hit the spot when needing that sugar rush.
HOW you do the program will depend on what you need to be successful.
WW offers:
Meeting at various locations-This is good for those that need that weekly "Encouragement from real people in the same journey to loose weight. It averages $12/week or you can do a 10 week commitment plan and save a bundle. If you find an official WW Center, you will also have the opportunity to purchase addition WW help items-Cookbooks, cooking utensils, etc to help you on your journey. I STRONGLY recommend buying a few of the cookbooks and measuring utensils.
WW Online-this is ideal for the more determined who may not need people interaction, but yet want a plan to lose weight. It's cheaper than the weekly meeting. It costs $15 for the monthly fee for unlimited access. I just don't wanna run and find a computer every time I eat something. This is an additional fee for those that go to meetings-I wish WW would make this free for in-house meeting members.
WW At Home-For $99, WW will send you the 12 week program materials and you mail in your weekly weigh-ins. This is ideal for those who are self-motivated or don't have a WW Meeting in their area.
WW At Work-WW Weekly meetings provide at places of employment.
WW gives you the tools to make smart choices. While the initial push is to eat what you want, as you go through the weekly materials, you learn how to make smarter choices and eat healthier. I wish WW provided more solid material on their "Activity System." So far, it's a fancy name without alot of backup to it. They don't hold you accountable for doing the activity.
Wrap-Up
If you are serious about losing weight and doing it healthy, WW is the way to go. It's not a quick-fix to a long term problem, but will help you get there.
