Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros:Sleek looking, lifetime lithium battery, gives accurate weight, "tap on" scale activator
Cons:I've not found any.
The Bottom Line:
Been using for years and have no complaints. Impact resistant glass platform is framed by durable plastic and has a chrome finish. It gives the same readings time after time.
I don't understand why this set of scales has so many negative reviews. If I'd read them before I bought mine, I probably would have skipped over it but I'm glad I didn't read the reviews as Weight Watchers Glass Platform Scales have been the best set of scales I've used. I'd have missed out on a dependable, sturdy item needed to help me keep up with weight loss or weight gain. I may have hated the numbers it displayed but those high numbers encouraged me to continue my quest to lose some much needed weight.

The scales are easy to use. You can choose to weigh yourself in kilograms or pounds (I use pounds) and all you do is use the heel of your foot to hit the base of the scales to activate the “tap on” scale activator, wait for the 0.0 number to appear and then step on the scales and wait for your weight to pop up on the large 1.5 in LCD screen. The scales measures 12-1/4 by 13-3/8 inches and is large enough for most feet. To choose your weight preference, there's a switch on the under side of the LCD screen. I find myself accidentally changing the setting when I pick the scales up and have to switch back to the pounds since it takes too long for my brain to convert kilo's into pounds. The scales displays weight in 0.1 lb./50 g increments.
A few years ago I saw a weight doctor to help me lose weight and the difference between his scales and mine was 5 pounds so I was always able to keep up with accurate weight readings. My doctors scales said I weighed 5 pounds less than what my scales said which is really unusual as doctor's scales usually say you weigh more. So, if my scales said I weighed 150, my doctor's scales said I weighed 145. Speaking of weight readings, no matter how many times I stepped on the scales hoping the numbers would magically change, I always got the same reading. There was never any inaccuracy so I don't understand why people say they would get different readings each time they stepped on the scales (from one second to the next).
My weight has varied on these scales from morning weight to evening weight. If you're dieting, don't let these numbers define the amount of weight you've lost. I found it was best to weigh in the morning and only once a week - otherwise those numbers could dissuade you from your goal.
If my scales said I weighed 150 pounds the first time, it said I weighed 150 pounds the second time and even third time. I kept hoping I'd get a different, lower, reading but it was always the same. My scales weren't lying to me after all which was depressing so I had to keep exercising and eating right. I need to get back on those scales before June, and vacation, gets here to lose some of the weight I've been lugging around.
The weight limit for Weight Watchers Glass Platform Scale is 400 lb or 180 kg. The base of the scales is polished chrome (no rust or anything) and mine has stayed nice looking after all these years. The tempered, high-impact, safety-glass platform is very sturdy but it does collect dust so with my paper towels and vinegar water, I clean it every few days to keep the shine and also because I don't like dirt.
The life-time lithium battery came with the scales. It's never failed me so I'm hoping that when they say “life-time,” they mean “life-time.” I think it's been around 7 years, or longer, since I bought these scales and I'm very pleased with how well they've continued to work. Should the battery not last a life-time, it can be replaced with a 3V lithium battery (CR2032).
Weight Watchers Glass Platform Scale is made by Conair and has a 10 year warranty. My 10 years may be up soon so I'll be sure and update my review should my scales die on me.
I've been very happy with the Weight Watchers Glass Platform Scale and wouldn't hesitate to buy another set but I'm hoping I won't have to. It's been a number of years since I bought my set so I'm pretty sure I paid the full price of $50 but you can find them at amazon.com for $32 which is a huge difference in price.
