| Magick1's Full Review: Weight Watchers Smart Ones Roast Turkey Medallions... |
When you want to eat better and dont have a lot of time to make things at home for you and your family, or when you dont have a lot of time to pack lunch for work, you might consider Weight Watchers® Smart Ones® meals. Or, you might consider these meals if you are trying to eat better and are on the Weight Watchers® program. For whatever reason, this might be one variety of the Smart Ones® meals that you can choose from in the store. Let me share with you my experience.
The Product
This is made up of white meat turkey and a mushroom gravy or sauce with peas and carrots mixed into white and wild rice. This sounds pretty good, doesnt it?
I found the flavor was enjoyable. But, the wild rice they state was in there was hard to come by. You will noticeably see white rice, but there were few peas or carrot pieces and very few wild rice pieces in this mixture. (You would think they would have mostly wild rice with a little white rice to fill you up.) As you will see below in the ingredients, the wild rice, carrots and peas are in the less than 2%. When you have this small of a serving size, that 2% is really a small amount!
This is served in an easy to heat up dish. You put it in the microwave for about 3 ½ minutes (depending on your microwave) and you let it sit for a minute or two before eating, as that makes it really hot! It ranks 4 points on the Weight Watchers® and is low in fat and calories. See the nutritional values below:

Overall Impressions
Overall, the flavor was enjoyable. I like the mushroom gravy a lot. The seasonings are mild and should not overwhelm most peoples palate. (But, I am sure a lot of people are already out as it has mushrooms!)
There were 5 small pieces of turkey and they were white meat pieces. Some items claim white meat and then you see small bit and pieces of dark meat slipped in or a piece that is ½ and ½. I did not see this with this particular product.
As mentioned, the rice portion was mostly white rice. I would prefer it with the wild rice primarily. And, I would have enjoyed more vegetables. With this only being 4 points, they could have added more vegetables and move up 1 point on their scale.
I do not do the Weight Watchers® program, but I do enjoy their meals. They usually have a very good flavor and decent portion sizes to get me through the day. And, they are usually very nicely priced in the stores! I can usually find a sale for 3 boxed for $5.00 and when I do, I stock up on a few weeks worth of lunches for work. There is a tremendous variety available! Good luck if you decide to try it. If you want more wild rice and think this will give it to you, you will be very disappointed. If you just want it because it has the white meat turkey and you like white rice, then you should be pleasantly pleased with this choice.
