I really, really wanted an ear thermometer when my daughter got too wiggly to easily take rectal readings, and I've been very pleased.
The ThermoScan is easy to use - just slip on a plastic cover, hit the "ready" button, slip it in carefully, push the button, and you've got a reading!
Be sure to read the directions carefully and pay attention to the drawings included. If you don't put it in right, you won't get a good reading.
You do have to put on a clean lens cover each time you use one because it gets ear wax all over it and you won't get a good reading if that happens. The covers aren't too expensive, and certainly worth it for your child's comfort.
I've always found the ThermoScan to be fairly accurate if I inserted it properly.
Another nice feature is that if there is a problem with the unit, it has coded error messages that will tell you what is wrong.
Also, it folds up so it takes up very little room in your medicine cabinet.
I've been pleased with mine, it really helps me to know for sure whether or not I'm dealing with a fever!
