As much as I love my mother, she still second-guesses me with my child rearing. Lately, my toddler has been sporting a nasty diaper rash. I had tried a few cremes, but since is summer, my main cure has been to let her run around bottomless after her morning poop. The fresh air method has been hazardous to my upholstery and shocking to my mother who went out and purchased this diaper creme as a "gift" to my daughter. It worked well on our original diaper rash and I have been using it all summer and found it to be of high quality and definitely worth recommending.
THE PRODUCT - OUR EXPERIENCE
One of the things I noticed right off about this creme is that it is thinner consistency than other cremes. You don't need to use as much as you would normally with other cremes and it spreads easily to cover the rash. That is good because this product is expensive and you wouldn't want to fly through a tube.
I also find that this product disappears between diaper changes. Either it is absorbed or pushed off into the diaper but there is a lot less residue than other diaper cremes. I would have thought that this diaper creme would be less effective because it doesn't seem to "stick" on the baby but it seems to work as well as other high-priced cremes I have used such as Burt's Bees.
The thing I like best about this diaper creme is that baby finds it very soothing. The baby, almost 2 now, speaks very well. She is the first to say if something is "ouchie." She actually likes this creme and asks me to put it on her even when she doesn't have a rash.
The other thing I like about this creme is that it doesn't have as strong a smell as other cremes. It certainly does have a smell but it fades quickly and winter clothes would probably cover it up entirely. The smell is somewhere between nice body lotion and medicinal diaper creme.
PACKAGING
The tube I have is smaller than a lot of other brands at just over 1 ounce. The top screws off and on which I don't care for as much as a flip top lid because it is too easy to lose the cover. The packaging is rather boring compared to other brands and probably wouldn't look as nice as other products in a gift basket. I got my tube as a gift but I believe that my mom paid around $9 for this small tube in the local health food market.
INGREDIENTS
These ingredients look all natural and very wholesome to me. I definitely feel better putting all natural products on my baby - especially on a bad diaper rash where the product is absorbed through the skin.
Active Ingredients: Contains: Zinc Oxide (12%, Diaper Rash Ointment)
Inactive Ingredients: Almond Oil, Calendula Extract, Chamomile Extract, Hydrolyzed Beeswax, Lanolin, Lavender Oil, Litsea Cubeb Oil, Orange Oil, Petitgrain Oil, Rosemary Oil, Sage Oil, Water, Ylang Ylang Oil
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I really like this product. It has a nice combination of consistency, smell and effectiveness. It is very expensive but a little of the product goes a long way so it should last longer than some other brands. The price is very high but I think it is worth it.
