As someone who grew up eating fresh popcorn from a popper, I knew I had to get this popper. It was about $40 at Target, and I jumped on the chance to get this popper for my kids to have that same loving experience.
This popper reminds me of the one I had growing up, only a bit better, you place the butter on the top, plug it in and watch the kids have fun watching it pop up.
My children are autistic and simple things entertain them, plus they love popcorn. We have popped a cup of popcorn daily because my kids love it as a snack once they get home from school. We eat it as a snack during football games, or even movies.
The cons are if you don't use real butter, as others have said, it does become shriveled and tough. Also if you don't watch it, the kernels closest to the hot plate will burn. Those are the only problems I have found so far.
It's super easy to clean and maintain. After popping, flip it over, take the hot plate bottom off, and serve straight from the domed bowl. Once the popcorn is finished, then clean the hot plate, and the bowl and lid with soap and water. I don't know what would happen if you put it in the dishwasher, because we clean it up immediately.
I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great, fresh, not microwaved popcorn, popper.
