Sadly, I believe there is a design defect in the Stir Crazy. Although the popcorn it made was tasty, I cannot recommend the Stir Crazy.
The first one I received as a gift and broke within weeks. The company was friendly about replacing it. The replacement broke yesterday, after about 10 months.
I just wanted to alert other consumers so that they would not be disappointed like I am.
The problem is with the motor, I believe. The same problem occurred in both of my Stir Crazy poppers: I plugged it in, and the stirring rod did not move. Then the base became very hot.
