Pros: Location, Room, friendly staff.
Cons: Business center for those who need it.
The Bottom Line: Fine hotel in downtown location especially for shopping. Not very romantic so best suited for business travel despite a weak "business center". One block from the convention center.

| imaginetr's Full Review: Paramount Hotel, a Coast Hotel |
Location = A, Check-in = A, Lobby = A, Room = A, Room Amenities = A, Hotel Amenities = B, Staff = A, Elevators = A
My wife and I stayed here for one night on July 22nd. I've stayed at several of the downtown Hotels in Seattle and checked out most of the others in person and online. I was looking for something close to the main downtown shopping district, something mid-priced and different.
I selected the Paramount for three different reasons:
First, near shopping and restaurants. Located at 7th and Pine it is one block from Pacific Place (a very high end, multi-story mall with restaurants & theater), 2 blocks from Nordstrom's and 3 blocks from WestLake Mall (and the monorail station). This area is also walking distance to a vast number of three star and better restaurants. (for a detailed and interactive map of the area try: http://lostinseattle.com/LIS/-imagemaps/c-detail17-15.shtml).
Second: The price. I was looking for a mid-price room. Our Executive King room cost $250 for the night.
Third: Specific room details: I was looking for a room that specifically had a "soaking tub" for my wife to relax in. "Room Darkening drapes". And room Location above or away from street noise for a peaceful rest.
I knew there is major street construction taking place just outside the hotel and in the area so I requested an upper floor. Once the construction is complete it should be an even better area.
The Paramount had all of these simple requirements and was clean and comfortable. Our room was on the 8th floor of the 11 floor hotel. The "Executive" rooms are located on all four corners of each floor.
I estimate our room size to be about 300 sq ft. Two sitting chair with ottoman's, a desk, TV cabinet with a mini-fridge and snacks below. Two night stands with a King bed. The corner room had windows on two sides with a nice view down Pine St. towards the water (no water view). Normal TV service including in room movies and games for kids is available.
The separate bathroom has a large, jetted soaking tub and separate shower. The toilet is separate by a pocket door if desired. Pedestal sink with large mirror. Separate corner stand with bath amenities and coffee maker and hair dryer. Thick Teri cloth robes provided in the closet and iron/board provided.
Check-in is 3:00 pm and we arrived early, at 2 and were able to check-in quickly then with very friendly staff. We were asked if we needed parking and we said 'yes'. We parked underground in a very small and cramped parking garage. Upon leaving we learned it was "Valet Only" and I can see why. The valet came down with me to help me back out of the stall and it was necessary. There is a self-parking pay lot immediately next door to the hotel if you choose or for guests.
The lobby has a comfortable seating area with two leather couches centered in front of a gas fireplace and mantle, and is well decorated. There is also some seating facing the elevators and Valet stand for arrivals or departures.
Along Pine Street, sharing an entrance to the hotel is the DragonFish Asian Cafe. We did not eat there but my wife has before. It's stylish, asian decor and cuisine. I did wander through it and thought it to be somewhat cramped. There is a separate but small bar and it allows smoking (we don't). I have only heard that the food is good. The restaurant provides room service to the hotel including American style Breakfasts. see them at: http://www.dragonfishcafe.com/sea/faq.php
Seattle Times delivered to the front door of guests rooms.
The only room shortcomings I can offer is that there is no specific place for luggage placement in the room for easy access except using the existing easy chairs. Also, you could hear hallway noise pretty easily and there was a rather large gap under the door allowing light into the room right in line with the bed. A towel fixed the problem.
One final shortcoming would be the "business center". There is a small "nook" with two PC's just off the lobby. I used this to check email a couple times. It is a very small, cramped nook. I did not see a printer or fax or other such resources although these may be available through the front desk. Still, compared to other hotels this small nook should be considered a short-coming. Not critical for our pleasure stay.
All in all we were very pleased with the room and hotel experience.
