| vanillajedi's Full Review: Westell Wirespeed LiteLine 6100 DSL Modem (B99-610... |
This Modem came with my Verizon DSL contract. I used the self installation software to connect my Gateway desktop computer to the web. After several attempts to locate the server failed, I had to call tech support. After about an hour on the phone with Verizon, they figured out what was holding up installation and we were finally up and running. But not for long! Turns out the Westell 6100 is susceptible to static build-up meaning while the modem connects to Verizon's server, it won't allow you to surf the web. According to tech support the only solution is to manually un-plug all the cables and let the system sit for at least 30 seconds. This really stinks since I have to do this at least 3 times a day. Not so "high-speed" if you ask me. Tech support, not sure where it's based, is not good. I can read the manual on my own thanks. The sales department says theyd be happy to sell me another modem that should work better, but I already paid for this modem in the fall of 㢪 instead of leasing it. Silly me! Avoid this product if you can. It'll be worth it in the long run to spend a little more on a different modem, than to have to deal with this problem over and over again.
