| seamonkey420's Full Review: Western Digital Caviar WD1000BB Special Edition 10... |
Well, i depleted my two 20 gig harddrieves and decided to just keep one of them for my Operating systems and get a new one for my files, so i thought "Lets go big!!". I went online and bought a Western Digital 100GB Special Edition.
I bough an OEM version so i didn't receive the quickstart guide or discs to maintain it (so partitioning with the Retail version is probably easier since it includes the WD Floppy disc)
Installation:
easy, like any other harddrive.
*the hardest part of the installation was with using FDISK in DOS to partition the 100 gig harddrive since FDISK only shows partitions of 20GB, after i figuring this out, it was cake.
Performance:
Beautiful! I split mine up into a 30GB partition, 20GB, 40GB. Works flawlessly with my other Western Digital 20GB harddrive. Perfect complement to any DVD burner (gives you the much needed space needed for editing and copy and also has a nice 8MB buffer does show its advantage on large file transfers.
Recommended:
Yes
