Pros: Requires small amounts, lasts a very long time, needs little/no reapplication
Cons: It may be a little costly
I was reading through reviews by my most trusted reviewers and I ran across this review for Astroglide Warming Lubricant by epiner serc. I don’t recall being able to find this type of product on epinions when I was looking for advice for what would be best for me.
Wet Platinum is purely a sexual use item so there is no need to continue if you do not have or will have not have use for it.
I have used the water-based lubricants for quite a long time, as have the vast majority of my friends. We all seem to have accepted a couple of facts about them. First, they get gummy relatively fast which means that you need to apply either additional amounts or a little bit of water to stop what can become an uncomfortable irritation. But they are typically inexpensive, easy to get at drugstores, and latex safe.
Silicone based lubricants are now almost as easy to get. The 3.1oz bottles of Wet Platinum are now available in many drugstores which means you no longer have to wait for a package ordered online or to go into a store selling sexual items to find it.
The product information allows me a perfect structure to explain why the product is worth every bit of the cost:
Guaranteed never sticky. I can’t say never, but I can say that for the months I’ve used it, I’ve never had it become even remotely gummy.
It never dries so it leaves your skin feeling soft and moisturized. As before, never is impossible to say, but the product has never dried during use. The skin does readily and safely absorb this sort of silicone and does leave the skin soft.
It does not break down in water so try it in the bath, shower, or spa. It definitely does not breakdown. If you use it in a very hot or heavily bromided hot tub, then it doesn’t last quite as long, but just a bit extra is usually enough under this condition.
It is also great for full body massage and skin conditioning. Um, undeniably true, but at around $3 an ounce, you may want to skip this part.
There is one downside to Wet Platinum. If you add too much of a water-based lubricant, it usually doesn’t cause any particular problems. If you over-apply silicone based lubricants, the pleasure factor drops significantly because everything becomes way too slippery. This extra slipperiness will also be a problem for men that add a little lubricant inside the condom. It is far better to apply just a little and add from there as needed rather than overdo it. If you overdo it, you will need a full wash-off.
Wet Platinum appears to be costly. At my closest CVS, the small bottle cost me $10. But it has already lasted longer than an 8oz bottle of a water-based lubricant that cost me $12.
