Pros: cute design, flap to cover the dirty clothes, can hold a week's worth of clothes
Cons: netting sometimes feels like it might break
Whale's Tale in my son's room
When putting together my son's room we went all out with just about everything that they sold for this theme. We wanted the nursery to look complete. Part of the extra accessories was the hamper! We figured we had to have something to put his dirty clothes in so we might as well get the hamper so it all matches.
The hamper has a wooden support. There are X's on both sides and wooden posts for the base & top of the front and the back. The hamper can fold together with or without the cloth design on it. The cloth design is blue/purple and white stripes with a whale blowing three bubbles on the front. The sides of the fabric are just blue. The back of the fabric is blue/purple and while stripes. The back of the fabric has a long yellow and white plaid part that can be pulled over the top of the hamper so that everyone doesn't have to see the baby's dirty clothes. Inside of the hamper is a white netting to catch all of the clothes so that the fabric doesn't get dirty at all.
This hamper was so easy to set up. The Wooden support opens into place. Then the fabric is put into place and is held by velcro over the wooden supports. Then the netting is easily dropped into place with each of the four corners being held by the 4 points of the wooden support. Then pull the cover over the top and it is ready to go.
We have this hamper up against one of the walls in my son's room within throwing distance when we need to put clothes in it. Usually depending on what my son was wearing during the week the hamper can hold about 5-7 days worth of clothes. My son is now 18 months and wears bigger sizes than when he was a newborn. In the first few months the hamper rarely got full because his clothes were so tiny and I tend to do his wash at least once a week. He did tend to spit up a lot so he went through more clothes that way, but even with burp cloths and receiving blankets it only got to be about half full.
When it is time to do the wash I just take out the white netting and carry it downstairs. Once I start the washer I dump in the clothes, (spraying for extra stains when needed), and then take the netting back upstairs. It works really well. Sometimes if the netting is full of heavier clothes I am afraid that the netting might break or rip... but it hasn't to this point. We have been using this for 18 months and had a lot of success with this so far!
This theme is produced by Lambs & Ivy and is a really cute for little ones. I have heard that this design may not be available anymore, but if you can find it you won't be disappointed!
This hamper is wonderful, works great, and is cute in my son's room!
