When our Kenmore washer transmission gave up the ghost two years ago we decide to purchase a new Cabrio washer and matching dryer based on test results and reviews from consumers. Whirpool boasts that the Cabrio uses less water and is energy efficient. After using the machine for 2 years it developed a weird noise when filling with water and is unable to rinse the clothes properly. In addition it gives an unbalanced load indicator when the clothes are not really causing an unbalanced condition. 

Because of the soild state controls on both the washer and the dryer I decided to purchase an extended warranty for four years. I am happy I did. We have already had a repair person out who made the statement "I fix alot of these Cabrio Washers and frankly I think Whirlpool has a bad design here". He brought a part with him to do the repair unfortunately is was the incorrect one. He is supposed to return today with the correct part to do the repair. I will pass on what the failure was to everyone as my wife will be home today.
I cannot condemn the Whirlpool product line as I have purchased thier products in the past and have been very happy with them.

I am also assuming they are still produced in this country and not China.
