At about 4.5 years the machine starting spraying black oil on the floor and the bearings needed to be replaced. A common issue with this machine. The repairman recommended I call Whirlpool to get assitance since this is such a common issue with this machine and that the repair would cost around $600. I called Whirlpool and they offered to fix the machine for $299 and extend the warranty for one year. The lady on the phone told me what a great deal they were giving me because the bearings and tub would be well over $300. I felt that was a fair deal, that Whirlpool was essentially covering some of the repair. I waited a week for the repairman and when they came out they had the same diagnosis on the machine my repairman did (which I already knew and just told WP customer service over the phone.) The repair company told me the machine was not economically feasible to fix. They offered to give me $200 back. I can not believe how deceptive and poorly WP treated me. Whirlpool refused to refund me the entire $299. They felt the $99 was to cover the service call. I did not need another person to diagnose the problem, I had already done that! Never again will Whirlpool get my money.
