Cons: Slightly smaller than most units.

WHY THE WHIRLPOOL ETOWSRXML TOP FREEZER REFRIGERATOR?
I mainly bought the Whirlpool ETOWSRXML Top Freezer Refrigerator for two reasons. My old Gibson fridge was on it's way out. Things began to freeze up in the refrigerator compartment - the temp control was more than likely broken. The brackets holding the crisper and cover broke and the door gaskets began to sag, mildew and deteriorate. They also started to tear and separated for the doors.
Not to mention that areas on the cabinet was rusting out.
It would cost too much money just to have it looked at by a repairman, much less get it fixed! Probably about $500.00!! That money could be put toward a new unit - which is exactly what I did!
The other reason for buying this unit is because since the stairs are narrow, I was afraid to buy a larger unit for fear that it wouldn't work, getting it up the stairs, that is. The delivery guys had a rough time getting the old unit out of the apartment and down to the street. The Whirlpool unit was practically a cinch for the guys to bring up because it is slightly narrower than the old fridge! I had contemplated getting a 15 cubic ft. Roper unit (also made by Whirlpool), but I was too afraid and chickened out for fear that it wouldn't fit through three flights of narrow stairs. Even with the unit's doors removed.
WHAT THEN?
So after the old fridge was removed from the apartment, brought downstairs and put on the truck, the guys had to put the doors back onto the new Whirlpool unit after taking them off to make sure that the unit was easy to get up the stairs. I then removed the packing material, adjusted the shelves, put the crisper and cover back into the unit, plugged it in and waited for the interior to cool down to the proper temperature. The guys had then waited around to make sure that the unit worked properly before they left. And it does.
WHAT ELSE?
After the refrigerator cooled to the ideal operating temp, I then loaded it up with the food removed from the old unit. I found out that this unit operates much quieter and is more efficient than the old fridge which was noisy. It runs so quietly that you almost have to be really close to it to know that it's on! I imagine that I'm going to have to get used to the extreme quietness of this one! I was used to the noise from the old unit which gave me the indication that it was on.

MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR:
So far, I like this unit! It seems to work very well. This model looks almost similar to Whirlpool's monster Gladiator series refrigerators - the ones that sit on giant wheels! I especially love the bold large deep clear vegetable bin, the majestic black textured cabinet and the stainless steel look doors!!
And there are no handles that stick out as with the old unit I had. This unit blends right in with the dishwasher and microwave oven since they are both black! I love it!! I'm sure that this new Whirlpool fridge will give me years and years and years of reliable service.
ANY SHORTCOMINGS AT ALL?
Slightly smaller than the old unit. But anything larger wouldn't fit through the narrow stairs. So I had no choice but to settle for this one. But I like it anyway!!
OVERALL?
Overall, I'd say that this refrigerator is very good, energy efficient and strikingly unique, given it's slightly smaller size and budget price! Usually, a unit this size does not come in black or with SS look doors.
IN SHORT:
Buy the brand that you KNOW will give you the most dependable trouble-free service; Whirlpool!!
FINAL THOUGHT?
Yes! If you're on a tight budget like myself, but you are in dire need of an apartment-size refrigerator, then the
Whirlpool ETOWSRXML should fill your needs. Expensive looking feature without the expensive price!
WHERE TO BUY THEM?
I bought this unit from Lowe's.com. The store then in turn, ordered it directly from Whirlpool, since it wasn't in stock at the store itself.
But you can get this refrigerator at just about any major appliance store. Sears, Best Buy and Home Depot to name a few. You can even buy it directly from Whirlpool Corporation through their website! But be aware that Whirlpool charges $100.00 more than Lowe's.

The instruction manual says to wait at least 24 hours to put food in the unit, or else there might be a chance that the food would spoil. I wasn't going to wait that long, as I had perishable dairy products such as milk, half & half and ice cream that needed to be put back under refrigeration immediately!
