Quiet, Efficient, And Easy On The Eye

Originally was looking for the highly rated AD50UDL but went to Lowe's to find them gone and this model replacing it.
The model AD50USS is completely redesigned so that the exhaust blows to the side so it can be put against a wall. I hook up a hose to my dehumidifier and found the connection sturdy and not part of the removable tank assembly (which it is in many models). The unit has a very nice, easy to clean air filter which removes without tools. The controls are all electronic which worried me at first but coming from a 10 or 11 year old dehumidifier with a mechanical humidity sensor, I am convinced that the electronic controls helps the unit cycle more efficiently. It runs a lot less than my older unit yet seems to keep my damp basement air very fresh.
The controls can be manually adjusted so the dehumidifier runs for less dry, dry, or more dry. You can also set it so it runs constantly. I have left it on the AUTO setting which the manual explains allows the most efficient operation. I have seen the difference on my electric bill already and feel it will pay for itself in one summer at my house.
Overall, the unit seems quiet, even on the high fan setting. My older dehumidifier could be heard from some distance. There is a low fan setting if noise was an issue, perhaps in a living area.
This Whirlpool dehumidifier is made in Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA and not China like most of the other dehumidifiers out there. I would much rather buy something made here given the product had good value and performance.
I would recommend this product highly.
