| martytdx's Full Review: Whiskas Crunch |
I have a cat. She's not a large cat, or a particularly vicious cat - that is, unless I try to tease her with these treats. Miko is a 10-pound tabby who lives to play (she's only 4, so we'll allow that). And she is no stranger to treats, being the spoiled brat that I've managed to raise. Friskies, Bonkers, Pounce - she's had them all, and rarely turns one down. But only this can will produce the consuming passion that she exhibits.
Being a cat, she doesn't exactly come when I call her (so why did I name her? Because they won't accept 'Cat' as a viable name at the vet). Most of the time, it's a quiet look over saying, "Now what?" unless I have something particularly interesting to offer (say, tuna fish or a new fake-fur mouse). If she's resting, she might stretch for a bit, then traipse on over to accept what I'm offering.
But a quick shake of the purple can and a pride of dogs, a flight of mockingbirds and even my evil tail-twisting cousin will fall before her in the quest to get some. I learned the hard way NOT to tease Miko with these treats - she will start climbing up to get them (I think the scars on my legs are healed now...). And no matter where she was - hiding under the bed, watching the lizard or having escaped outside, she would tear across the carpet to her bowl when she heard the Whiskas coming.
The treats themselves are relatively small and pretty crunchy from what I can hear while she delights herself. They are designed to be a supplement or substitute to a regular meal, although - to her consternation - I only give them out as an occasional treat. The can provides a long supply if you follow the recommendation of 10-12 pieces per serving. Nutritionally, I don't think that they offer too much but they aren't going to hurt, particularly as an occasional snack, as I do.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a store around here that sells them anymore, and our supply is running might low. I think I saw her hiding a small supply in her kitty bed, but she's getting awful protective. Not to mention those little notes that keep appearing on the bulletin board...
