I received a pouch of Whiskas Homestyle Favorites in the mail when it first came out. The package is totally unique. The convenient flavor-lock pouch is simple to open. It's so much easier than the typical cans. The sides have notches to pull the top open with no mess. You just pour it out, flatten the pack, and toss the empty pack.
My 5 cats were hooked immediately. The morsels are made with poultry, meat, or seafood. The package states that it is slow-cooked with natural juices for a homemade taste. The flavor-lock pouch seals in the flavor. I believe this, because my cats have never reacted to their Friskies canned food the way the reacted to this stuff. They have had the Friskies trout, chicken, turkey, and other varieties, but none has compared to the Whiskas 'Freshwater Trout in Sauce.' I have one cat that only laps up the gravy and eats about 2 morsels. The rest of the cats gobble it up! They literally walk into the kitchen and meow for it.
The Whiskas Homestyle Favorites provide vitamins and nutrients essential for a cat's health. Alone, it provides 100% of a cat's daily nutrition. The package recommends feeding an adult cat 2-2 1/2 pouches per 5 pounds of body weight. Four of my five cats weigh at or around 10 pounds. That would be 4-5 pouches per cat per day.
I recommend feeding a smaller portion. I only divide 2 packs between the 5 of them as a treat, because they eat so much dry food throughout the day, and dry food helps maintain their dental hygiene.
The packages are priced comparably to other similar canned foods. A 5.5 oz can of friskies costs about 25 cents. The Whiskas 3 oz pouches cost 32 cents, but occasionally you can find it on sale 4 for $1. I think it is highly worth the few extra cents for the convenience.
