Music is weird. No, I'm not referring to songs or instruments. I'm referring to "Music", my giant cat. For the longest time he showed no interest whatsoever in "treats". His predecessors always loved snacks and I was disappointed that Music didn't care for them. But when a neighbor introduced him (and us) to Whiskas Temptations dairy flavored treats, Music went nuts over them. And since then, he's learned to like the other Temptations flavors, too. And he doesn't just "like" them, he goes completely nuts for them. Exactly like a cat is supposed to do! Finally, he (and I) can enjoy the rituals and games that these treats allow us to play.
For instance, shaking the bag now brings him running. I can even get him to come inside from the deck with just a shake or two. This is a big deal since he's very stubborn, and at times it's been a major battle to get him to come in when we want him in. Now, there's no more battle! A shake of the bag brings him in. I'm sure there's an inner battle in his little brain... "hmmm... I want to stay outside, but she's shaking that bag inside, what to do?" Luckily for me, his desire to eat these treats (so far) beats his desire to stay outside.
So what are these "magic" treats that bring Music running?
These are Whiskas Temptations Beef Flavor. They come in a 3oz. brightly colored foil bag with a press & seal closure. These treats are made in Canada. The directions and ingredients are printed in both English and French. They provide toll free numbers, both from the US and from Canada, in case you have any questions.
Each treat is a really small rectangle, each side less than 1/4". Even little kitties can eat these tiny snacks. They are hard and crunchy on the outside, with a soft filling on the inside. I can't tell you how the outside or the inside tastes, but I can tell you that Music chomps these right down. I can also tell you that they have none of that horrible odor that some other cat foods have. Not that these smell good but they don't make me gag, either.
The first four ingredients are chicken by-product meal, ground corn, animal fat (source of beef flavor), and rice. Then there are whole bunch of other ingredients including vitamins, wheat, and barley. It says there are "no artificial flavors". As far as the analysis goes: Crude Protein - Min 30%, Crude Fat - Min 17%, Crude Fiber - Max 4.5%, Moisture - Max 12%
Obviously, this is not intended to be a meal replacement, but for an occasional treat (or to bribe kitty to come inside when he doesn't want to) this product works for me. Music gives them four paws up. His Mom gives them 5 stars.
