This detector can sometimes be found in Wal Mart for 49.99. I happened to stumble across it one day and decided to give it a try as I really like my Whistler DE 1732.

What I got with this detector was another positive experience with Whistler detectors. This detector has great X and K band range. Ka band range is a little more than adequate. Of course lower end detectors are not going to be as receptive to Ka as the higher end ones. I've had several saves with this detector since I've bought it. A couple of Ka band saves(close calls) and a few K band saves. I haven't had an X band save but found when I was travelling through Alabama that this detector does the best againist X band.

This detector is VG2 immune but be advised that VG2 is now rarely used and the police now favor the Spectre II and III radar detector detector so do not take this detector where law prohibits it. If it is on your windshield, unplug it once you get in territory that has banned radar detectors.

The laser filtering in this detector is among the best I've seen in the radar detectors that I've owned so far. I haven't had one laser false. I did get hit by laser on an onramp. I wouldn't call it a save because I wasn't speeding.

The display is very easy to read at all times of the day. When this detector alerts it will display the type of band and will show you the threat level. (I, II, III.) The volume level of this detector is excellent. This detector has 3 city modes and one highway mode. It also saves the settings. Overall this is a very simple detector to use. Every type of alert is easily distinguishable.

Overall this is a great detector for the price and is a good compromise between price and performance. Because of the performance is great for the price I am happy to award this detector with a 5 star rating. I'd recommend this detector to anyone without hesistation.
