kjscrafts's Full Review: Ron Roy - Who Cloned the President?
This short chapter book is the 1st in the series of mysteries based in Washington, D.C. This book is great for kids just starting to read chapter books, as it is easy to read and has great black and white full page images frequently in the book. The main plot of this story is two kids who sneak into the White House to save the President, who they think has been cloned and the clone is going to make an announcement the next day if they do not save the real President and get the clone out of being controlled by the evil doers. It is an obviously unrealistic story with some of the events, but it is still a great book that kids can enjoy reading and it does take place within the real setting of D.C. The main characters are a boy and a girl, who live in the same apartment building and are best friends. With the main characters being kids that both males and females can associate with, the book is thus great for both genders. It also shows that opposite genders can be friends, which I have noticed is a big issue in some grade schools with boys and girls not even wanting to be partners in class just because of gender and not ever trying to get to know the person beyond their gender.
