Pros: Quick read. The characters are good metaphors for workplace personalities.
Cons: Suggests that all change is good and we should seek change, which isn't always true.
The Bottom Line: This book is a very quick read and worthy of your time if you are someone responsible for bringing about change in your family or at work.
cottrell's Full Review: Spencer Johnson - Who Moved My Cheese
This book is a good, quick read that might help you with changes either at work or home. The messages are very simple and kind of have that fortune-teller vagueness to them, but the overall message is good. I really like how it provides characters and metaphors that can be used to casually discuss how people respond to changing situations. The story focuses on how some people refuse to adapt to their environment because they are afraid of change, even if it results in their ultimate demise.
The only bad part about the message is that it encourages change for the sake of change or the mentality of "if we're not moving forward, then we're moving backwards." The story would have been even better if it would have also provided a character that exemplifies people that never settle down on anything and skip from change to change. Kind of the opposite of the person that won't accept change.
Still, it's a very quick read and worthy of your time if you are someone responsible for bringing about change in your family or at work.
