kirsib's Full Review: Wide Open [Digipak] * by Jason Aldean
Jason Aldean has slowly but surely climbed up to be one of the most productive new country stars today. His third album since 2005 is newly released Wide Open and it continues showing different sides of Jason Aldean.
He can rock it up big time like he does in his first single of this album called She's Country. Jason sings about girl power and gets the respect of all us female fans for sure. Crazy Town is another fast tempo song with witty lyrics about stardom and Nashville, it should do great as a single.
But then there is softer side of Jason singing ballads and love songs and he has uncanny talent to make you believe every note he sings. This I Gotta See is a nice song about man driving back home to see his woman before sun goes down.
He also sings about a girl who dreams big in opening track Wide Open and shows his darker side in beautifully crafted song called Fast. There is also always humor in Jason Aldean music and Big Green Tractor reminds me of Kenny song She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy.
You get 11 songs on this CD and there is no fillers, every song has a story and band behind Jason Aldean sounds great, little loud at times but you would expect nothing less from his album.
The more I listen to this CD more I like it, tunes are catchy, lyrics got meaning and Jason Aldean has a voice that grows in you. I was watching him doing an interview on CMT and saying he thinks this is the best record he has done and I think he is right. And it is not saying little, his first two albums are really good too.
I would still love to hear him live, I think most songs here would sound even better in person but I'm thinking this CD will get plenty airtime summer 2009 driving with your windows down and living the life!
This CD was released April 7th 2009 in Broken Bow Record Label.
