I got "addicted" to the SIMS on the PC over the last year...fun, creative, lets you do your own designs, etc. so I figured buying the WII Sims Creator would be about the same....sadly, I am a little disappointed.
Wii Sims Creator is a one player game. You start out naming your city and with your basic blank map as you do with older/other versions....then it all is different and new.
With the Wii version, it takes a little bit of time to adjust to the controller and numchuck as your movement devices. Once you master that, the game gets a little easier to play.
Unlike previous versions, the Wii version does not allow you to place one building and pick that building. The Wii version allows you to select area's of the map and then you pick whether you want low, medium or high density residential or commercial and it will automatically populate them over time and you really don't know what they are putting in there. There is a magnifying glass you can click on and then click a building and it will show you what the building is, how many people it holds and current thresholds, but it's not the same and it a little disappointing.
Additionally, unlike previous versions, the zoom on this doesn't take you down to the street level where you can see the front of your building and it doesn't allow you to zoom around and change your position to see other views. This is extremely disappointing as that was part of the fun of previous versions.
You can select a "reward" as they call it. Those rewards are made up of 10 options for LARGE buildings such as an opera house, etc. and they are almost so large they look out of place when you put them on the map.
One of the big challenges (hopefully not giving anything away) is that your cities will NOT grow unless you run the underground water, put in pumping stations and and put in power companies and run power lines...along with subways and subway stations. I learned the hard way to have that, but it's not hard to put in, just time consuming.
All in all, a decent game that is fun to play, but don't go in with expectations that it is beter than other versions or older versions. It left me $49.99 disappointed.
