joshwebb's Full Review: Wii Sports Resort with Wii MotionPlus Accessory fo...
Wii Sports resort is the follow up to the original Wii Sports, the action game that has boxing, bowling, golf, tennis, and baseball. Wii Sports resort has new games like, sword play, wave boarding, canoeing, bicycle riding, archery, basketball, frisbee, and original games like golf and bowling, however these original games have been updated to make it just a little bit more of a challenge to achieve good status.
Wii Sports Resort, like Wii Sports, requires action and motion to play. An example would be golf, you are supposed to hold the Wii Paddle like a golf club and swing at the ball. In Wii Sports Resort, you have to hold your position, give a good solid swing, and keep it strait, or your ball will veer off course. This game, unlike the first, requires a small adapter that connects to the bottom of the paddle, called the Motion Plus Accessory, which makes paddle more sensitive to the motion of the player. A few of the games, such as the archery and jet skiing, require use of the nunchuck, so action with both hands is required.
I love this game, I think it is what the Wii is all about, getting up and moving. Although you are not required to move the lower half of you body, I find it easier if I stand to play the games, so I have more motion in the top half of my body. However, if you just arent in the mood the get up and move, not to fear, there is something for you too. By using the Wii paddle, you can fly an airplane over the resort, using the paddle like the joystick of an airplane.
This game has a little bit of something for everyone, my two year old daughter loves the sword play, because it only requires her to wave the paddle around in front of her. I, a 26 year old man, like playing Golf, and my brother in law, who is confined to a wheelchair, enjoys the plane flying game. So truthfully, there is something for every age, and then some.
The game is a great follow-up to the original, which I got with the Wii when I purchased it. Both games allow you to use a custom made Mii, an avatar so to say, to look a cartoon version of yourself playing in the game. This game is fun and challenging. There is the option to play with or against up to 3 other players, however all players have to have the Motion Plus Accessory, which can be rather costly, only one comes with the purchase of the game.
