Will Smith - rapper/role model

Pros:good clean entertainment
Cons:none
After listening to Will Smith's latest CD, "Willenium," I am reminded of something I decided long ago: this man can do it all. I've been a fan of Will since his Fresh Prince days, and his variety of talent has not yet ceased to amaze me. What's more, he is one of few rappers who seems to understand that there are children watching him and listening to his music. He pretty much sums it up in the song "Freakin' It", with the line, "All you rapper yelling about who you put in a hearse, do me a favor: write one verse without a curse." Thank you, Mr. Smith, for being conscious of your fame and setting a good example for your fans.
It is obvious that his dedication to providing a role model has not kept him from having fun and being successful. When it comes to commercial success, Will Smith can do no wrong, and this album is no exception. With a nod to his old-school roots, Will has teamed up with his old partner, producer DJ Jazzy Jeff. "Willenium" shows Will's ability to provide listeners with the modern dance sound that has become his trademark while staying true to where he came from. DJ Jazzy Jeff isn't the only old friend Will stayed in touch with, as Tatyana Ali (who played Ashley on "Fresh Prince of Bel Air") also appears on the new album.
It's refreshing to see a celebrity with such a perfect balance of responsibility and fun. Fame and fortune are great things to enjoy, but Will Smith still knows what's really important - family, friends, and our world's future, the children. Success has not gone to his head but enabled him to be even more complete. As he says on this album, "Not conceited - I'm as good as I say I am." You sure are, Will.
