skater6446's Full Review: NFL Blitz for PlayStation 1
Intro:
Nfl Blitz is the start, preseqel to the Nfl BLitz series. Nowadays there's Blitz '99, 2000, 2001 and 2002. Every game is the same exact, except for the fact that the graphic's and smoothness of the game enhance. I recommend buying the original Blitz and trying it out first, if it suits your needs, then buy 2002.
Price
Nfl Blitz can be boughten in any store that sells video games. The game runs from $12 - $15. Widely Availible.
Gameplay: 9/10
The gameplay is fairly fast and easily adapted to. The controls are easily broken down into pass, jump, and turbo. These controls can easily be learned after your first game.
One other extra to the gameplay, is that there is no referre's, no rules, nofear as in the title. When comes to pass interference, it's expected.
The "no rulez" feature of Blitz can be a plus but also a minus at the same time. No rules adds a wild kick to the gameplay. It seems Blitz is uncontrollable. I like this feature, but it also dislikable at times at the end of games.
Blitz has 2 main modes...
Single Game:
Single Game is for when your cravin' for Blitz but don't have much time, Or your friend's over, and he/she's doesn't feel like sittin' through a whole season, just cause you forgot how to share.
Single game is a set amount of minutes of one game. Your able to set it to 2, 4, or 8. The best mode for playing against friends.
Full season:
The full season mode is for when you have some time on your hands and think your good enough to play all the teams in the league. Hey, maybe you can win the superbowl?
Graphics: 9/10 for '98
Graphic's in Blitz are definitely out-dated by all of the games today. All I can say, is that Blitz was an average rated graphic wise game back in '98.
The framerate in Blitz is very sloppy, many times it can get laggy. Remember it's from '98, so the sloppy framerate is sortof expected.
All the surrounding stadium's and crowd's aren't very realistic. The crowd is very blurred indeed, and the surrounding stadium is quite far away and unnoticeable.
The weather in Blitz is very realistic for a game of 4 years ago. It can rain, snow, and even be foggy in any blitz game, at anypoint. This is usually random, put there are codes if you feel like choosing.
Audio: 8/10
The audio in Blitz can get glitchy at points, sometimes when you pause, the crowd's cheering goes away, but when you unpause occasionally, the crowds doesn't start cheering again.
The sound effects are inpecable, and are so detailed as when the play starts and the quarter back yells out "Hut, hut hike!" or when the biggest player on the other team nails your QB, he lets out a earth shattering grunt.
The other occasional sound effects in the game is when you bust a big move, or when the clocks running out the announcer will chimp in with "time running out!" or "going for the bomb." Yeah you get the general idea.
Replay Value: 10/10
The replay value in Blitz is about forever, it definitely won't be shelved in a matter of hours. You can always duke it out with your friend as soon as you get bored with the seasons. The season does go down in reply value after the first one. Replay Value: A couple of months.

Overall: 4/5 Starz
All in all, NFL BLitz is one of the best, anything goes football game's out right now. I would definitely recommend it because it's also on almost every console, so it's widely available. The control's may be different, since this is a revew for playstation, but it's still the same game. 4 of 5 Stars!
