If you are looking for something to add some spook to your Halloween cupcakes, these seasonal pix make a great pick. Normally I try to purchase items that can be used for a number of things but these are strictly for cupcakes. Why? They will be too small to be used on muffins and because of the curve on the bottom of the design they don't look all that great on flat items like brownies or individual cake slices. Even though there are a limited number of things that you can use these on they are still great to have around for decorating Halloween cupcakes. They are an awesome pick for people who want to add a little bit of extra color to store bought cupcakes or those who do not want to spend time decorating their baked treats. Each package contains six designs and you get two of each for a total of twelve. They are a one-time-use item that gets added to the top of a cupcake. This is not a cupcake wrap but gets inserted into the cupcake so there is a good chance that you are going to get icing on it. Make sure that these are removed before they are handed out to kids, I doubt that they would eat them but the pick portion could be used to jab other kids. While not the best way to make use of these seasonal pix, it happened a few times when they were taken to homeschool parties even though all the kids were warned not to. Kids will be kids and even the most well mannered offspring will turn into little demons when an excessive amount of sugar finds its way into their system. Remove the Freaky Friends Fun Pix before handing them out to avoid any problems that could come from jabbing people with them. There are six designs in this assortment; none of them are the least bit scary so they are more than appropriate for kids of all ages. They include a purple vampire bat, grinning witch, smiling ghost, happy vampire, green Frankenstein styled monster and a wrapped mummy. All of the Freaky Friends are large enough that they hang over the sides of cupcakes so don't go crazy with the icing or frosting or it will end up all over the design. There is a lot of color variety to the pix and they will work with any colored frosting or icing so you don't have to stick with one color if you don't want to. Since these are pix and not something that covers the entire face of the cupcake you can add sprinkles or colored sugar to them to enhance the overall look of them. The only drawback to the Freaky Friends Cupcake Pix is that they are a one-time-use item. Even if you handle these with great care you are still going to get icing on them. Considering that they only cost $3.19 at the Wilton Online Store, it isn't a big deal to have to pitch them when you are done with them. As mentioned, these are only suitable for use on cupcakes because of the rounded or curved bottom section. You can however use them on other foods that have a rounded top like scoops of ice cream or mashed potatoes [if you are planning a dinner for Halloween that is]. They are cute, unique items that can make decorating cupcakes a complete breeze. I like the variety of the designs and that they aren't scary. This makes them something that you can use for cupcakes for kids to take to school but if you are going to use them for that type of event please send a note with them so the teacher will know to collect them and dispose of them properly so no one gets injured by the pix. Freaky Friends Cupcake Pix are extremely easy to use and something that kids can apply to the cupcakes if they want to help out in the kitchen. They are colorful and creative and add a nice bit of detail to cupcakes. It remains to be seen if Wilton will add on to the Freaky Friends series; it would be nice to have companion pieces that you could use to create a themed but we will have to wait until next year to see if that happens. I ordered these online and paid full price for them but did manage to find five of them at a local craft store for 70% off the day after Halloween. I didn't go hunting specifically for these during the post holiday sale but was pleasantly surprised when I came across them on clearance. They are currently tucked away with all of the other post-sale Halloween items that I came across over the past few days. ================== ^V^ © 2009 Freak369 ^V^ ================== Haunted Manor Cupcake Wraps 'N Pix 2113-9216 Happy Haunters Fun Pix "Just Batty" Fun Foil Pix Halloween Cupcake And Cookie Stencils Halloween Push-N-Print Cookie Set Dancing Skeletons Baking Cups Cool Ghouls, Spooky Snacks, Wicked Windows, Creepy Coffins, Evil Embellishments: Planning The Perfect Halloween Party
