| Freak369's Full Review: Wilton Spooky Ghost Party Bags 1912-1040 |
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but you probably already knew that! When it comes to decorating, making costumes and preparing for that magical and mystical season, I am in heaven. One of my favorite things to do is to make small treat bags for some of the neighborhood kids that are at my house several times a week. For the most part these kids are eggheads, just like my own brood. Just because they are geeks doesnt mean they dont like sweets but they go for the hard-core stuff like Pixie Stix, Whoppers, Bazooka Joe bubble gum and Air-Heads. Sure I could toss it all into a brown paper bag and tie on a colored piece of yarn but thats no fun. Instead I pick up the Wilton Party Bags and stuff them full of treats for my geeks. The bags are inexpensive, colorful, see through and allow each kid to check out his or her treat bag before making a final decision you never know when you are going to come across a bag with an extra package of Whoppers in them
Wilton Spooky Ghost Party Bags 1912-1040
Wilton offers a ton of different treat bags and yes they have them for almost every season. This particular bag is one of the cute ghost collages white ghosts with purple accents, orange pumpkins and of course the word Boo! cover the front and back of the bag. The thickness of the bag is average and will stand up to a lot of moving around when full but you have to get the closure right the first time because the plastic does tend to wrinkle if its opened and closed too many times. You can fit about six full sized candy bars inside the bag with a little room to spare but if you are into smaller treats, you can fit about 20 of the fun sized candy bars. For kids that arent into sweets, you can also fill these with crayons [my personal pick is the Crayola Halloween Crayon Treat Pack], fast food restaurant coupon booklets, gift certificates, toys and of course, small Lego sets.
Size
These are a great size to work with when making treat bags, assembling Halloween hand outs or even doing a sweet swap. These are four inches wide and almost ten inches long. The bottoms are not flat meaning they dont open op like a brown paper bag so you are best off putting larger items at the bottom to secure it and weigh it down this will also keep it from tipping over or being too top heavy. Youll be able to really fill these up thanks to the expanding sides but make sure you leave enough room at the top to tie it shut.
Things To Know
There are a lot of different styles of treat bags that Wilton produces and they are available for almost every season. These have a retail price of $1.00 to $1.50 but you can pick them up for a fraction of that price during the post season sales. Last year I cleaned up and got them for .25 cents each! You will have to hunt through a lot of junk but Ive always been able to get them during the after season sales. These are great to have on hand when you need to make small gift packs too. It eliminates the need for wrapping paper, tape and gift cards just toss your items into the bag, use the provided twist tie and you are done. You can perk them up with some metallic ribbons or streamers but because the bags are already decorated it isnt necessary.
Some things that Ive used these for include lining the inside of large glasses and filling the inside with colored popcorn makes for a spooky presentation and keeps caramel popcorn from sticking to the glass. If you have a surplus of these you can use them for packing up sandwiches for lunches. When Halloween rolls around we take a few day trips to pick out pumpkins and check out the haunted houses these bags make a great way to pack up snacks, sandwiches and treats and since I got them for .25 cents a pack on clearance I dont have to use the Ziploc baggies. Trust me, once you get a few packs of these treat bags youll find tons of uses for them!
The Bottom Line
If you are into Halloween and want to make quick work of handing out treats this is a great option. The bags are inexpensive, come 20 to a pack and even have their own twist ties. For those that only have a few trick-or-treaters and want to spoil them this is a great way to assemble treats and goodies. For me, well, I am a Halloween junkie so I use them for packing up cookies and baked goods, for special goodie bags and for small presents. This is a must have if you make any type of candied apples especially ones that are coated in nuts. Roll the bags down, place the apple on the bottom section of the bag and lift it over the apple. This keeps them in great shape, prevents the nuts from falling all over the place and makes handing them out a complete breeze.
As always, thanks for the visit
