There was a time, just before my son turned three when he was really into puzzles. I thought it was a phase, but he continued to work the same puzzles repeatedly to where he mastered them. The Winnie the Pooh Wood Jigsaw Puzzles were the perfect introduction to interlocking pieces.

The Winnie the Pooh Wood Jigsaw Puzzles is a trio of puzzles, which can be purchased individually, or as a set. They are brightly colored with royal blue borders and each puzzle features a uniquely adorable scene. Unfortunately, the Epinions image has expired, so readers can't see how cute the are. The first puzzle is titled Expedition, where Pooh, Tigger, Roo, and Eyeore consider a boating expedition. The next puzzle pictures Christopher Robin, Pooh, and Roo watching Tigger enjoy a Rainy Day. The final puzzle shows the gang gathering to celebrate Tigger’s Birthday.

The puzzles are tray-type puzzles where the pieces actually store inside a wood tray. Each puzzle consists of 24-interlocking pieces. There are pictures beneath the pieces, but they are not in color. The images look like a wood-burn of the scene. Each puzzle measures 16” x 12” which is about the size of a legal piece of paper. The large size makes them easy to handle and carry. The puzzle pieces measure a chunky 2½” x 3” so the pieces do not pose a choking hazard. The Winnie the Pooh Wood Jigsaw Puzzles are recommended for children 3-years and up by the manufacturer Schylling.


Our Experience
These puzzles have been favorites among my son’s puzzles. William worked these puzzles so much they show wear along the outside edges. Surprisingly the pieces have held up considerably well. I’d say the age recommendation is accurate for an interlocking puzzle. The pictures underneath help with placement, but they don’t give the answers away as easily as color images do. I’m sad to discover that the set has been discontinued; however, I was able to find them deeply discounted at an online site.

I purchased each puzzle for $5.99, which isn't bad for an all-wood interlocking puzzle. At 3, William was able to work these puzzles with assistance, but now that he’s 5 he completes them in 3-minutes tops. Tigger’s Birthday is still the boys most preferred puzzle, and he’s not ready to give the trio to the yard sale pile. I support his decision. This is one cute, and durable set of puzzles. As a side note, Schylling manufactured coordinating Nesting Cubes.
