I had a twenty dollar gift certificate to HMV the other day and spent close to an hour browsing for that quintessential CD to purchase. I thought about the new Ghostface "Supreme Clientele" but instead chose to go out on a limb and buy the World Famous Beat Junkies Vol.2, a two cd album which is absolutely amazing. I originally picked it up because I liked Soundbombing 2 put out by Rawkus this past year which had been mixed by two of the Beat Junkies founders, J Rocc and Babu. Anyways, the Beat Junkies are a crew of DJ's who are all friends out in California but who have truly taken the art of turntablism to new levels and made people like Funkmaster Flex look like a joke. They are able to scratch with amazing agility and speed and make new songs simply by scratching others, truly incredible. While I haven't heard the 1st or the 3rd volumes, number 2 is off the hook, and I highly recommend it. However, be forewarned, this is not like Soundbombing 2, which focuses on the lyricists, this is an album of straight scratching and doesn't have the flow or continuity of a regular hip-hop album, but is rather seamless.
