Do you need some high performance hiking socks? Then I recommend you end your search and buy these as soon as possible as they are currently on close out as they are from the 2008 production year.
Experience
So far these WrightSock Double-Layer Xtra Hiking Socks - '08 have provided me with excellent comfort comparable to that of Merino Wool Socks costing twice as much or more, so ultimately they are a bargain granted you do not intended on getting them wet as they do not contain any wool to lock in heat when wet.
What makes these socks so comfortable is the fact that they are composed of a double layer which allows for a friction free environment which is very important when you are wearing boots or shoes for many hours non-stop (eight to fourteen hours at a time). They are also very efficient in keeping the feet cool and dry due to the unique specialty synthetic fibers.
The dual layer acts as insulation that helps keep your feet comfortable year round; warm during the Winter and cool during the Summer.
These socks are also comfortable in the aspect that the padding provided by the outer layer from the hidden terry looped cushion made from Solara Acrylic.
I have not had a problem with them bunching up, as they fit just fine.
Times to be used
As the name would imply they are good for hiking and backpacking, but are also excellent for warm weather hunting, and are great for cold weather hunting, too; however even though I generally prefer these socks for during Summer and Fall (here in the Florida Panhandle or commonly referred to as lower Alabama by locals), they do retain heat during cool or cold weather which is especially great if your feet are generally cold natured. So I would have to say that these are good for when your feet are warm or even hot during weather above 68 degrees F. And anything below 32 degrees F your feet will probably be at least chilly, if not too cold especially if you have feet that sweat profusely.
Some Side Notes
For your own benefit I would suggest reading the helpful hints for socks, so that you will maximize your dollars spent on these socks or any other socks for that matter as the extra steps I list will improve and maintain the socks at their best. I have been wearing some version or another of the double layer anti-blister system socks for more than three years now and they have all held up extremely well due to the excellent quality control of Wrightenberry Mills, Incorporated, and are the makers of WrightSock.

About Available Sizes
Currently they are still available in small, medium, large, and extra large. Small has a grey seam color near the toes. Medium has a light blue seam color near the toes. Large has royal seam color near the toes. And last but not least the extra large has a navy seam color near the toes.
Color Selection
Currently they come in assorted colors that are not specified; however, the pair I got was a sandy brown color that on the package is called "Tan".
Fiber Content
The various fibers consist of the sock is made up of a double layer hodge podge mixture that works very well. The inner layer contains 70% Dri-WRIGHT Polyester, and 30% Lycra. The outer layer contains 72% Solara Acrylic, 24% Nylon, and 4% Lycra.

Yes, I definitely recommend these as they are very comfortable from being nice and cushiony, as well as providing anti-friction environment.
