Pros: Easy way to check your blood pressure through out the day.
As most elderly people soon realize your Doctor says you have high blood pressure and they usually recommend medication. That is what happened to me over five years ago and I did take the medication for a month. It was a disaster, as all the side effects they listed I had them all. After that month was over I purchased a blood pressure monitor that was digital but you had to pump up the cuff similar to the one the nurses use on you every time you have your check-up.
I used that machine for a year and when I went back to the Doctors told them that I stopped taking the medication and was checking myself many times during the day. I explained to them that my blood pressure fluctuated from high to normal many different times a day. I told them of my experience with the medication and said I would keep checking and if it got out of control would come to them for medication.
Now it comes to my wanting an easier machine to use to check my blood pressure and I saw in one of my catalogs for supplies for the elderly a wrist blood pressure monitor. I thought this looked much simpler to use at different times of the day so ordered the WrisTech Blood Pressure Monitor . It has been a joy to use and I can keep the little apparatus on my kitchen table so it is handy whenever I want to check my blood pressure. You will need to buy two AAA batteries as they dont come with this machine. They are easy to install as all directions are given with the battery door right on the top of the machine
This one-touch wristband just clips on your wrist with a tight clip and a small strap that fold around your wrist and held together with Velcro. The monitor is digitized so all the letters are east to read. You program in the date and time so when you take your blood pressure those figures are recorded and held for recall whenever you want to check to see what it was on certain dates and time. This little system is fully automatic with one easy green button to push when you have it securely on your wrist with your palm upward and hand raised so your arm is even with your heart. It recommends for you to sit on a chair at your table with your feet flat on the floor in a comfortable position. When you push the green button your wrist blood pressure machine inflates and you can watch it transforming your readings.
When the wrist machine deflates your blood pressure is recorded with the Systolic rate as the high end and the Diastolic rate at the low end. The bottom figure will be your pulse rate. These figures are then recorded in the machine and will keep 99 measurements, when you press the recall button all these recordings will file by as you continue pressing that button. You can erase all these by removing the batteries and it will then give you new readings. You will set the date and time by pressing mode for month as it is flashing at the top of the monitor. Continue on and set the date and time in the same manner.
On the display of this WrisTech Blood Pressure Monitor you will see a flashing heart when pulse is detected. If you need to replace batteries an icon will appears so you know your batteries are low. If for some reason your do not put the wrist cuff on correctly and Error will appear and you can readjust the cuff. When measuring your blood pressure an icon of a hand appears all the time it is measuring your blood pressure. When the cuff inflates it will read going to 195 then the air is slowly released and you can see the numbers slowly recede until the cuff deflates and your blood pressure numbers appear. If your blood pressure is too high the cuff will re-inflate to an even higher number? I found this out when I took my blood pressure after running up my stairs I wanted to see how much my blood pressure changes after doing different activities. I have been staying fairly normal and then I just read that now to be healthy you have to keep your blood pressure below 120/80. I have always measured fairly high but still stay healthy. I have a neighbor who measures 117/75 and is always having some problem with her health. Go figure!
This little blood pressure machine is compact as the wrist band is folded up to put inside the wrist clip. It all fit neatly in a nice white plastic case where it keeps it free from dust and other harmful objects. They said this case is a free bonus, but I think it is a necessary item. This WrisTech Blood Pressure Monitor is featured on the Invention Channel and I paid $39.95 and find it was a great bargain. I will be able to take this with me anywhere and be able to monitor my blood pressure wherever I may be staying. They include booklets of instruction and one where you may want to record your own tests in a Log Book. TAKING CARE OF YOUR HEALTH IS LIKE MONEY IN THE BANK OF LIFE!!
