I received this guitar as a present from my parents for graduation and I have never been happier about a gift in my life. While I am not a hardcore musician, I do enjoy playing at my leisure and this is truly a great guitar for all levels of musicians.
The Sound!
To say the sound produced by this guitar is "music to my ears" is a little corny...but it truly is! This is a steel-stringed guitar which eloquently produces everything from a crisp, clear high-note to the deepest low strum. In addition, you can really strum this guitar without it giving up a lot of vibration. It truly is a pleasure to play!
The Look!
The FG series has a great classic look with a beautiful ash body and rosewood neck and bridge. Add on chrome tuning pegs and frets and you've got a classic acoustic guitar that is the envy of all who see it! Just look at the picture....this is a cool looking guitar!
The Feel!
So it looks great and sounds great, but how does it feel? Because the body is ash, the guitar is very light. Because it's so light, I often play standing up without the help of a neckstrap. In addition, even though they call this the "jumbo" model, the body is not as big as some of the Ovations or the Gibsons so musicians with shorter arms don't have problems completing the full range of motion with their strumming arm.
The light feeling, however, isn't a cheapy feeling. I have held a couple of off-brand guitars that felt like the neck might snap if you fingered a fret too hard. This guitar may be light, but it has a solid, sturdy construction.
The Value!
You might look at the price (around $300) for this guitar and think it's a little pricey, but trust me, the price is definitely worth the quality and enjoyment you will get out of this guitar. I have had mine now for more than 10 years and have never had any work done on the guitar other than changing out the strings as they wear.
I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for an instrument for themselves or as a gift to someone. Whether they are an aspiring beginner or an already accomplished musician, this guitar is great for players of all levels
