| exportr's Full Review: Yamaha RX-V2200 6.1 Channels Receiver |
My mind was made up and so I purchased the Onkyo TX-DS 797 Receiver. How can you beat the Onkyo’s features? DTS-ES and THX for under $800 is incredible! My setup of Pioneer Elite TZ-F700 & TZ-C700 are great. Two weeks into my purchase, I visited my local Sound Advice store to purchase my rear channel speaker when their knowledgeable salesperson questioned my decision for the Onkyo – even with all those “great features.”
Detailed explanations of the differences between component quality, the crisp, clear sound and the unparalleled 3D depth proportioned by the Yamaha RX-V2200 when he gloated, “they could not even be compared”. Since I was now in doubt of my Onkyo purchase, my decision was to take home the Yamaha RX-V2200 and put both receivers to the test. When playing the THX-certified Star Wars Phantom Menace DVD on the Onkyo, you will truly be experiencing great sound. But...when the Yamaha RX-V2200 was plugged in, you are suddenly immersed in flying the Star Wars Pod Race yourself. You are living the movie as if you were actually there. New sounds never heard on the Onkyo were literally flying off the screen and around our home-movie room.
After 30 minutes playing the Onkyo, it took no more than 4 minutes for us to instantly make the switch. The salesperson was right. The Yamaha receiver truly electrifies your entire A/V experience. If this doesn’t convince you, make the test. You’ll be glad you did.
The Yamaha is easy to use when OSD (On Screen Display) is activated but somewhat complicated to activate the OSD since it doesn’t run through your component video. Without the OSD, it’s a difficult setup process. The Yamaha RX-V2200 easily configures to any room with any speakers in any setup. To really enjoy it, you should have great speakers.
