| malench2's Full Review: Kyocera Profile Zoom 4000 APS Film Camera |
I bought the Profile Zoom 4000 IX about a month ago before a trip to Europe. I previously owned a basic Fuji Endeavor APS camera, which I liked except for its very limited zoom ability. I like the Yashica much better for the following reasons:
1) This palm-sized camera has a unique shape (similar to a mini cam-corder) that makes it easy to grip and take great shots. The shutter, zoom lever and other controls are all positioned for easy fingertip access and single hand operation.
2) You can easily change from wide angle to telephoto. At either extreme and in between, the all-glass 30mm-120mm (equivalent to 38-150mm in 35mm) power-zoom lens can help you take great close-ups. It truly has the best zoom lens that I've found in the APS market to date (and I looked at a lot of APS cameras). The quality of all our prints has been top notch.
3) The camera also has a multi-mode flash system that assures proper lighting and seems to help eliminate 'red eye'.
4) Lastly, it looks great. You can get the camera in either a matte silver or pearl blue finish.
A few nits:
1) The case that comes with the camera is cheaply made and the shape is a bit odd for other camera cases.
2) For such a small camera, it's a bit heavy. I guess that's the tradeoff for the zoom capability.
Overall, if you're looking for a unique APS camera with the best zoom, the Profile 4000 IX is for you.
