We have been to Yeradis three times now and seem to keep going back. The comfortable setting and friendly staff make Yeradis a homey, welcoming place.
THE FOOD
Yeradis serves basic Italian comfort food. There is a lot of red sauce and pasta plus chicken parmesan, veal masala, shrimp scampi and other standard fare. There are usually three specials posted on the board that try to be a little more gourmet. We have eaten at Yeradis for dinner three times. There are early bird specials on the menu which run about $8 and include basic pastas with a little meat. The regular entrees run $10-18 and include a much broader selection. All entrees seem to include garlic bread and salad.
I have tried a shrimp dish, chicken dish and pasta dish. The chicken dish and pasta dish were above average and quite good. The seafood dish had very overcooked shrimp and scallops. I suspect the cook started with frozen seafood and let it overcook. The sauce and pasta were fine but the overcooked portions made it a below average meal. I wouldn't recommend Yeradi's for seafood. I don't think they get enough traffic to keep a large supply of fresh seafood on hand and the frozen stuff just doesnt cut it in a $14 entree.
SERVICE
The thing that makes us return to Yeradis is the service. The wait staff is welcoming and friendly. The service can't be beat and it is better than many other much more expensive restaurants that we have visited. This staff knows when to hang back but also keeps an eye on the tables to make sure you get everything you need promptly. In all three visits, I would say the service is perfect.
LOCATION / DECOR / AMBIANCE
Yeradis restaurant is located in a two story building tucked behind a pharmacy and dry cleaners. The lower level is a bar complete with foosball and large screen tvs. It has that cheap beer in the carpet smell that doesn't appeal to me. However, the restaurant has a separate entrance and you can walk past the bar without walking through it.
The restaurant is up one level of steep stairs. The carpet on the stairs is noticeably dirty and stained which is too bad because the upstairs restaurant is much nicer. The restaurant itself has a mix of booths and tables. There is a gas fireplace that is lit in the winter, fabric tablecloths, pictures of Italian families from the old country and lots of other homey touches. This is a nice place for families or friends. It isnt for dates or people you are trying to impress. You can dine comfortably in jeans here or dress slightly nicer.
OTHER THOUGHTS
I doubt the restaurant is handicapped accessible. There is no elevator in the building. The bathrooms for the restaurant are on the first floor. If climbing stairs is difficult or impossible for you, dont dine here.
There is a kids menu that includes our all-time favorite: chicken fingers and french fries. The kids meals run about $4. The staff welcomes children. I didnt see high chairs but that doesnt mean they dont exist.
Vegetarians have a few options including basic pasta but I wouldn't call Yeradis vegetarian friendly.
There is a full liquor license and a full bar on the ground level.
They take credit cards.
Parking immediately near the restaurant entrance is scarce. There is a lot out back and lots of free street parking.
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I like Yeradis for Italian comfort food. The service is warm and welcoming and that makes a big difference. Plus, the kids menu makes sure the bill doesnt get too high for family dining.
