Only the 3-page epilogue deals with his recovery. The book is about his youth as a perplexed sex object.

This was really a great review. My aunt's friend or roomie, was arrested over twenty times for participating in marches, she was also in the military and was strongly urged to leave. She never stepped down, not even a notch. I am very proud of her and she is one of my best friends. No matter what life has thrown me she has always been there for me.
peace,
Pam

I'm always amazed by the sheer number of ex-pat... (Reply to this comment)

Excellent review, Ed, as always.

Stephen:
Do you really think so? I have my autographed copy in front of me and he writes in his Epilogue, "At least I no longer think of myself as despicable & my life as a waste & I'm not nearly as tormented as I used to be." This is directly after he talks about his friend Ira who died of AIDS.
He talks of acceptance and that's all out of Alanon. He accepted his life for what it is now and when he and I talked on the phone he gave me to believe what I said about him was correct. Thanks for stopping. Your comments are valuable to me.

is interesting, but your "bottom line" is misleading about what is in the book.
