Mark Yarnell and Rene Reid Yarnell - Your First Year in Network Marketing: Overcome Your Fears, Experience Success, and Achieve Your Dreams!
aashtech's Full Review: Mark Yarnell and Rene Reid Yarnell - Your First Ye...
Although Network Marketing is a completely natural outgrowth of human experience, it is unlike anything the typical American education prepares us for. Before the (bygone) era of lifetime employment, entrepreneurship was commonplace. Now we are poorly prepared for it and things we do in the industry seem to happen with uncertain causes and distant effects. A challenge to the new MLM-er.
This book is an essential guide for anyone venturing into this arena and is extremely well crafted. I devoured this book the first time I read it and re-read it, a little more slowly, immediately afterwards. I do the same again every few months, as my business grows.
The book includes nine chapters, each about thirty pages long, broken into sections that further define the topic. At the end of each chapter is a two or three page summary that briefly repeats the key points covered.
For example, Ignoring the Rejection Rocket teaches you how to make rejection, which is inevitable, your ally, rather than your enemy. You are really wading into unfamiliar territory as you introduce people to your product, service, or opportunity; and being told, "No thanks," is discouraging for most of us. "No" was a word we hated to hear as children, as it meant we were bad, in trouble, or both. But the waitress walking through the coffee shop doesn't fall apart if you don't want your cup refilled. Certainly, you are a little more involved when you start the business (and a lot less skillful) and only gain perspective over time. This section shortens the learning curve.
The next chapter, Avoiding the Management Trap, highlights a key difference between Network Marketing and the workaday world. You only have to manage yourself. Your sales organization has the same responsibility (and the same need) and is rewarded the same way. Help them as much as they need to, but don't push, pull, or carry them.
Other chapters include Dodging the Depression Torpedo, Blocking the False Expectation Tank, Attacking the Warm List Warhead, Fending off the Scatter Bomb, Eluding the Meetings Mines, Unloading the Plug-In Pistol, and Deflecting the Executive Explosion. They each provide valuable insights into starting a new business.
This book is the most complete reference guide into the industry to date. If you are serious about your business, be sure to have a copy on hand.
