JBduckling's Full Review: Youth Batting Gloves by Franklin (Large)
Little League Baseball in Wisconsin almost demands the use of batting gloves by the players. This spring, we are actually hitting baseballs into snowbanks, left by the record snow depth. Too many times, we try to play outside, when the temperature drops below 45 degrees and the hands, naturally, get cold. One hit off the handle, the "bees" in the player's hands start to buzz, and they do not want to get back into the box to hit. A good batting glove reduces the shock and helps to create good batting fundamentals. Franklin Sports has some winners and losers when it comes to kids batting gloves.
Franklin batting gloves are used by all levels of baseball players around the world, from Major Leaguers to Little Leaguers. Bat vibration, rough bat handle materials, and cold, wet weather often requires the use of batting gloves. Players tend to be more relaxed when they use batting gloves. Franklin Sports Baseball Batting Gloves for kids and adults for their quality and performance. Franklin Batting gloves offer excellent shock absorption features to help reduce bat vibration. Their extensive anti-wear features to make them last and the leather is soft and supple. We have run into winners and losers.
Our first experience with Franklin was terrible. In fact, we contacted the company about the poor quality glove and was told that model is no longer being made. They apologized and sent a replacement pair of Franklin Shok Sorb batting gloves, size youth large. This is the glove to buy. A pair pack can be purchased for under $20 and we are now in our second season using these gloves.
The Franklin Shok Sorb glove is not only endorsed by many Major League players, it is also endorsed by Major League Baseball, as stated by the MLB hologram on the front. MLB is now committed to high quality products, and this is no exception. The Franklin Youth Batting Gloves, Shok Sorb are excellent because:
1. Size Large is a generous large, it fits our 10, now 11 year old with room to spare. NIKE's did not for comparison. The NIKE large was "small"!
2. Leather palms provide superior gripping, the texture is better than smooth palmed gloves. Franklin gloves feature
"Pittards" world class leather.
3. Franklin gloves are treated with Armor-Tan, increasing durability by 25%, while staying soft.
4. Aegis Micro-Shield anti-microbial treated leather provide protection against bacteria, fungus, and odors and deterioration.
5. Tri-curve design, equate to custom patterns, for a natural feel and fit. This also helps in teaching proper batting grip for kids.
6. Shok Sorb series provides for additional gel foam protection. They truly "Stop-the-Shock" when batting.
While Franklin has some lower priced gloves, I would not suggest them, as the velcro fasteners wore out or were defective. Shok Sorb are a step above, and worth the few additional dollars.
